Bruce Odle, President

Bruce Odle is President of USA TODAY Sports Images, and since May 2008, he has been responsible for overall management, business development and strategic partnerships. He played an integral role in growing the business into the largest sports specialized photo wire service in the U.S., and he managed the acquisition of the company by Gannett Co. in August 2011. He continues to position the company to be a leader in the digital content production and syndication business along with founder Bob Rosato, a dedicated staff and the best professional sports photojournalists in the industry.

Prior to USA TODAY Sports Images, Bruce was Co-Founder, Chief Operating Officer and inside Legal Counsel of a learning technology company that grew from start-up to market leader over a ten year period. His responsibilities including raising $10M in private equity, managing shareholder relationships and securing strategic partnership for global sales and distribution. He also managed the spinout of a sports performance division where he oversaw product development and beta testing with 50 college teams and 100 pro athletes from the NBA, NFL and NHL.

Bruce practiced business and corporate law as an associate at the boutique Indianapolis law firm Cromer and Eaglesfield. He also served as a special advisor on agri-business issues for Indiana Senator Richard Lugar.

He is a graduate of Purdue University and Drake University Law School with International Law Studies through Notre Dame Law School in London, England. He currently lives in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Bob Rosato, Chief Operating Officer

Bob Rosato, Chief Operating Officer

Bob Rosato is the Chief Operating Officer of USA TODAY Sports Images. In this role, he is responsible for the global strategy and operational leadership of USA TODAY Sports Media Group’s photo operations, including field operations; IT and technology integration; services and content; quality control; business development and strategic planning. He was a founding member of USPW Media Holdings, LLC, and US PRESSWIRE, laying the foundation for a business that grew into an international sports content image provider within five years of creation. The company became a global market leader, performing at the level of the nation’s largest wire services prior to its acquisition by the Gannett Company in August 2011. Bob has nearly three decades in the sports media industry, both as a professional photographer and in a management capacity.

Before he joined USA TODAY Sports Media Group, he spent 19 years as a staffer and contributor at Sports Illustrated Magazine. Prior to his tenure at Sports Illustrated, he operated a successful freelance business and was a leading contributor to the National Football League Creative Services Division and Major League Baseball Photos, in addition to covering a vast array of sports globally.

Bob has had thousands of images published in national and international publications during his career, including over 75 Sports Illustrated covers. He has earned numerous accolades for his photography, such as first place in Pictures of the Year (sports action category) in the Missouri School of Journalism, National Headliner Award, the NFL Hall of Fame and Photo District News Awards. Most recently, his photographs appeared in Sports Illustrated’s 100 Greatest Sports Photos of All Time-including an image in the top ten.

While at Sports Illustrated, he was a member of the former Microsoft “Icons of Imaging” program. Now, he frequently serves as guest speaker and faculty member at the annual Sports Photography Workshop Series in Colorado Springs, and he has led numerous seminars and workshops on sports photojournalism in the US.

Nick Carter, Director of Technology

Nick Carter, Director of Technology

Nick Carter serves as the Director of Technology, effectively developing, executing and managing the technological strategies of USA TODAY Sports Images. He is also responsible for the global infrastructure that serves the business needs of the company’s media members, customers and partners. Nick oversees the growth and development of USA TODAY Sports Images’ field operations technology solutions, calling upon his background in creating stable and reliable systems.

He has over 13 years in information technology service and systems management. Prior to joining USA TODAY Sports Images, Nick served 10 years as Project Manager/Senior Systems Analyst at DASNet Systems, where he was responsible for the applications and platforms of a diverse client base.

Nick attended Florida Atlantic University, is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys restoring classic cars. He lives in Northern Florida with his wife Brittney.

Jerry Lai, Director of Editorial Content

Jerry Lai, Director of Editorial Content

Jerry Lai serves as the Director of Editorial Content for USA TODAY Sports Images. Jerry is responsible for the overall management of photo production and leads the company’s edit team. In addition to being a very accomplished photographer himself, Jerry oversees the management of the company's workflow criteria and standards. He continues to lead the editorial and news operations to new levels while maintaining a high level of service and support to meet customer needs.

Jerry’s vast experience in photojournalism prior to joining USA TODAY Sports Images includes serving as a contributing photographer for news, sports, and entertainment assignments for all the major wire services, including the Associated Press, Getty Images and Reuters.

He has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northwestern University and was appointed to his current role of Director of Editorial Content in September 2009.

Michael Madrid is the International Sports Director of USA TODAY SPORTS Images and has worked as a photojournalist for nearly 30 years. He has covered numerous Olympic Games, Superbowls, and Masters Tournaments, as well as news events such as presidential inaugurations, the aftermaths of Columbine and Katrina, and the war in Iraq.

Michael holds degrees in Photography and in Journalism. His professional affiliations include the White House News Photographers Association, the U.S. Senate Press Photographers Gallery, The National Association of Hispanic Journalists, and The National Press Photographers Association where he is a former member of the Board of Directors.

Michael and his wife Margaret Sharkoffmadrid, maintain residences in McLean, VA and Fort Collins, CO. His hobbies include large format photography, restoring old Porsches, and rescuing Labradors.

Kristi Guerriero, Photo Operations Manager

Kristi Guerriero, Photo Operations Manager

Kristi Guerriero is the Photo Operations Manager for USA TODAY Sports Images. Her primary responsibility is the management and coordination of the USA TODAY Sports Images’ national network of professional sports photographers. She serves as the company liaison for coverage and commercial matters regarding leagues, national editorial accounts and creative accounts.

Kristi has an extensive background in sports photography production, business and large-scale people management. Prior to USA TODAY Sports Images, she was the Production Manager and Player Relations Manager for Tristar Productions. Kristi has 20+ years in sports licensing, player and team relations, photo editing and creative development with AP Images, The Upper Deck Company, Fleer Trading Cards and ESPN The Magazine.

Kristi is a graduate of Penn State and resides outside of New York City in Point Pleasant, NJ.
